SCANZ 2026 Conference
Our 2026 conference was held in Ōtautahi Christchurch, with the theme:
Regeneration: building a science-informed future
We heard about how science communication can adapt and thrive through change - from shifts across the science sector and new technologies to climate and societal challenges - by keeping curiosity and kindness at the forefront. Our keynote speakers were Robert Sullivan, Phil Dooley, and Bronwyn Hayward. Ōtautahi Christchurch, with its powerful story of rebuilding and renewal, was the perfect setting for these conversations.
The SCANZ 2026 Conference sparked some of the best conversations we've had as a science communication community, and we're not ready for them to stop! We've prepared a document with our Hot Takes that captures some of the insights and key messages of the conference. Let's keep kōrero and collaboration going!
If you attended SCANZ 2026, please also take the time to fill out our conference survey. It helps us to hear what we did well and what we can improve for next time!
Recordings of the conference will be posted and available to watch for SCANZ members.
